MINSK, 16 November (BelTA) – Azerbaijan is showing interest in the Belarusian experience of developing agro-towns and the country’s food industry. The matter was discussed at a meeting between Belarus Vice Premier Mikhail Rusy and the Azerbaijani delegation led by Ganja Mayor Elmar Valiyev on 16 November, BelTA has learned.

“Since you are interested in agriculture and, first of all, agro-towns, we are ready to show you our recent achievements in the sector, share experience in the development of the corresponding infrastructure. We can also show you our milking parlors of any modifications and types,” said Mikhail Rusy.

The two countries view cooperation in the food industry as promising. Azerbaijan is interested in Belarusian confectionary, alcoholic beverages and other goods. “We are working well together in tobacco production and are ready for closer cooperation as long as you are interested. We are also ready to cooperate in the processing industry, development of joint manufacturing facilities, for example, a plant to process fruit and vegetables in Belarus,” Mikhail Rusy suggested.

Belarus is also ready to cooperate with Azerbaijan in the production of agricultural equipment. Special attention in the area will be on interregional contacts.

Mikhail Rusy noted that the projects discussed today would become a good platform for further talks during the Belarus President’s visit to Azerbaijan in late November. “It will be the next good step to boost relations between the two countries,” he said.
