MINSK, 23 November (BelTA) – The establishment of a joint venture in Tajikistan for the sake of assembling BelAZ haul trucks with the carrying capacity of 30-45 tonnes was discussed as a delegation of the Belarusian automobile manufacturing company BelAZ led by the company’s Director General Sergei Nikiforovich visited Dushanbe, BelTA has learned.

BelAZ Chief Designer Aleksandr Naskovets made a few comments about negotiations, which had taken place in the Industry and New Technologies Ministry of Tajikistan. According to the source, due to terrain peculiarities in Tajikistan quarries over there are mostly small and are located high in the mountains. This is why Tajik mining companies are primarily interested in Belarusian trucks with the carrying capacity of up to 45 tonnes. Haul trucks with the carrying capacity of 90 tonnes may come in handy, too if the volume of extraction of mineral resources rises and new mining projects are implemented in Tajikistan.

The enterprise to assemble BelAZ trucks is supposed to be located near Dushanbe where good logistic options are available thanks to motorways and railways. The main components will be shipped from Belarus by rail taking into account a consequent increase in the localization of component manufacturing at the assembly site.

The sides also agreed that BelAZ specialists will soon be made familiar with manufacturing capabilities, the available area, and infrastructure of the partner enterprise. In turn, Tajik specialists will undergo training at BelAZ’s assembly line in Zhodino.

The Belarusian company’s press service noted that BelAZ has been cooperating with Tajik enterprises for a long time. In particular, BelAZ vehicles have been used to build such facilities as the Sangtuda 1 hydroelectric power plant and the Rogun hydropower plant. This cooperation has progressed recently. In October 2022 BelAZ participated in an exhibition of Belarusian products Made in Belarus in Dushanbe. A Tajik delegation led by the industry and new technologies minister visited the Belarusian company shortly after that.

The public joint-stock company (OAO) BelAZ is the managing company of the holding company BelAZ. BelAZ is the world's largest manufacturer of haul trucks and transport equipment for the mining industry and the civil engineering industry. BelAZ occupies about 30% of the world market of haul trucks with an extremely large carrying capacity. The company makes the world's largest haul truck with the carrying capacity of 450 tonnes.
