Ambassador: Belarus-Poland trade should reach $2.5bn in 2017

Ambassador: Belarus-Poland trade should reach $2.5bn in 2017MINSK, 14 December (BelTA) – Belarus-Poland cooperation has been recently on the rise, with the bilateral trade expected at $2.5 million in 2017, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Poland to Belarus Konrad Pawlik told the media on 14 December, BelTA has learned.

“In 2017 we expect to reach $2.5 billion in mutual trade, up 20% from the previous year,” said the ambassador. The trade has been on the rise on both the sides.

According to the diplomat, the two countries have shown growth in both economic and political cooperation over the past two years. A big number of visits of Polish representatives to Belarus testify to the fact. Among those who visited Minsk were representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Interior Ministry, the Education Ministry, and the Healthcare Ministry. Meetings were held between MPs of the two countries. Belarusian-Polish meetings were also held at the level of the CEI and the OSCE. Poland and Belarus cooperate within the UNICEF and the UNDP.

The Polish embassy has held a lot of cultural events this year. The Polish Institute in Minsk has made a great contribution implementing more than 140 projects, Konrad Pawlik said. The exhibition of Napoleon Orda’s works from Polish museums was a success at the National Art Museum. The Polish side is currently preparing its stand for the Minsk International Book Fair.

In 2018 Poland will mark 100 years of independence. “This important date is a good opportunity to tell about the achievements of Poland,” said the ambassador.
