MINSK, 23 November (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Egypt, Oman, Sudan, and Algeria Yevgeny Sobolevsky outlined the areas in which Algeria is interested in cooperation with Belarus on the air of the STV TV channel, BelTA has learned.

“Algeria is primarily interested in energy-intensive models of Belarusian tractors. Next, I would highlight cargo and passenger vehicles. This involves localizing the production of Belarusian trucks and buses in Algeria. Separately, I would also note agricultural cooperation, the introduction of Belarusian technologies for mechanization and precision agriculture,” the ambassador said.

Belarus is ready to assist Algeria in implementing a large-scale project to green the desert, as well as in building complexes for drying and storing grain. “We are prepared to be a reliable partner in strengthening Algeria’s food security,” Ambassador Yevgeny Sobolevsky added.

He also emphasized the food industry. This concerns not only increasing supplies of powdered milk and meat, but also obtaining permits for the export of Belarusian baby food to Algeria.

Another area of cooperation is pharmaceuticals. The possibility of localizing the production of Belarusian medicines in Algeria, including anti-cancer drugs, is under consideration.

According to the diplomat, these matters are now being actively discussed, and many of them will take concrete shape during the upcoming visit of the head of state.

Algeria is Africa’s largest country. Rich in oil, gas, and other natural resources, it is an important hub of international maritime trade. For Belarus, Algeria is not only a large market but also a gateway to broader opportunities across Africa. Algeria is also an influential player on the international stage, an active member of the Non-Aligned Movement, the League of Arab States, and the African Union.

During recent talks at the level of foreign ministers, both parties confirmed shared views on key global issues and expressed commitment to mutual support in international organizations.
