Access to EU food market for Belarusian products discussed in Minsk

MINSK, 27 August (BelTA) – Belarus’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Oleg Kravchenko met with European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety Vytenis Andriukaitis in Minsk on 27 August, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On behalf of Belarus the meeting was also attended by Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister, Director of the Department of Veterinary and Food Supervision Ivan Smilgin and Deputy Healthcare Minister, Chief State Sanitary Doctor Natalia Zhukova. The parties discussed cooperation in the field of sanitary and veterinary control and the prospects for expanding the access to the EU market for Belarusian food products. After the meeting, the parties agreed to continue the work on strengthening the cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

Vytenis Andriukaitis is scheduled to meet with representatives of the government of Belarus and the Healthcare Ministry.
