Abramenko: Belarusian-Russian economic relations continue to gain momentum

MINSK, 14 February (BelTA) – The Belarusian-Russian trade and economic relations continue to gain momentum, Belarusian Deputy Economy Minister Alesya Abramenko said during a meeting of the High-Level Group under the Council of Ministers of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in Minsk on 14 February, BelTA learned from the press service of the Economy Ministry.

The bilateral negotiating group is working to eliminate complex issues arising in the course the interaction of Belarusian and Russian business entities.

In 2022 four meetings were held to consider about 40 issues, including cooperation in the field of microelectronics, the results of a pilot project to recognize bank guarantees, reducing the cost of roaming, etc. This year, work continues on creating conditions for mutual exchange trade, equalizing tariffs for rail transportation for Belarusian goods through the territory of Russia and other key issues of bilateral cooperation.

"Belarusian-Russian trade and economic relations are gaining momentum. Over the past year, more than a hundred delegations of various levels from Russia visited Belarus. Almost the same number of Belarusian delegations traveled to the Russian regions. Mutual trade rose by 14.3% in 2022 in annual terms and amounted to about $46 billion," the press service said.
