About 30 documents signed during Belarusian-Georgian business forum in Tbilisi

TBILISI, 22 March (BelTA) - About 30 documents and business contracts were signed during the Belarusian-Georgian business forum in Tbilisi, BelTA has learned.

In his speech at the business forum Belarus’ Vice Prime Minister Mikhail Rusy highlighted the momentum in the development of bilateral cooperation with Georgia and spoke in favor of further improving the conditions for business. He noted that both states have established favorable conditions for business development.

For his part, Georgia’s First Deputy Prime Minister, Economy and Sustainable Development Minister Dimitry Kumsishvili stressed that Georgia and Belarus maintain long-term cooperation which has gained a momentum in recent years, both at the level of the states and private sector. “I am sure that the visit of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko will make an important contribution to the development of relations, and we will not limit ourselves to the existing projects. We are set to implement many new ones,” he said.

The goal to reach $200 million in mutual trade will be achieved in the near future, Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vladimir Ulakhovich told the media. According to him, the agreements worth about $9 million were signed during the business forum. “The amount is not that big. But this is only the beginning. It is important that we have begun to implement joint projects, including in the field of mechanical engineering. The two countries will step up cooperation in such areas as food industry, petrochemistry, construction, new technology, IT,” Vladimir Ulakhovich noted.

For example, Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ trademark) and Georgia’s OOO Profauto signed a contract to supply MAZ vehicles to Georgia. The Georgian company will also get the exclusive rights to sell MAZ vehicles in Georgia.

BelAZ and RMG Copper mining company signed an agreement on cooperation, strategic partnership and supply of dump trucks.

Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ trademark) and Bobruiskagromash struck contracts and agreements with OOO Hermes, a Georgian supplier of agricultural machinery. According to these documents, the Bobruisk-based company will be able to run a permanent exhibition of its products in Georgia.

One of the key agreements was inked between Mogilevliftmash and OOO GTU-SIS. The companies signed a memorandum of cooperation which provides for an action plant to set up the facility to produce lifting equipment in Georgia. The parties signed the equipment production roadmap and an agreement to train (retrain) Georgian lift operators.

The Belarusian Oil Trade House agreed with the Belneftekhim Concern representation in Georgia on additional supplies of Belshina products. The representation will also promote the products made by Gomel Chemical Plant and Naftan Oil Refinery in the Georgian market.

Belarus is also set to increase food supplies to Georgia. The corresponding agreement was concluded by Kalinkovichi Dairy at the business forum.

Belarusian pharmaceutical companies signed a number of agreements with Georgian companies. These are the Borisov Plant of Medical Preparations, Belpharmprom, and Belmedpreparaty. The agreements, contracts and memorandums signed during the dorum focus on the cooperation between the parties, the supply of Belarusian products to Georgia and their registration in the country.

The export insurance company Eximgarant of Belarus signed a memorandum of cooperation with Partnership Fund, the biggest state investment fund in Georgia.
