USSR actress Ada Rogovtseva to head M@rt. kontakt jury

MOGILEV, 13 February (BelTA) – The jury of the M@rt. kontakt international youth theater festival which is due to take place in Mogilev on 21-27 March 2014 will be led by USSR People’s Artist, Hero of Ukraine Ada Rogovtseva, BelTA learnt from the forum’s organizing committee.

The actress will hold a meeting as part of the forum in the Rodina Cinema House on 23 March. Half of the tickets for the festival performances have already been sold. About 15% of them have been booked online. One of the most enthusiastic theater goers of Mogilev has set record purchasing tickets for all the performances to the total tune of Br4.5 million.

Ada Rogovtseva is well-known by her roles in films such as Hail, Maria, Gadfly, Taras Bulba, and many others. The actress holds a number of titles: the Honored Artist of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic (1960), People’s Artist of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic (1967), the USSR Honored Artist (1967), the USSR People’s Artist (1978). She also holds a number of orders and awards. She is the winner of the nationwide campaign, Star of Ukraine, in the nomination, Star of the Ukrainian Art, (2004), a holder of the special prize, For Loyalty to the Profession, of the Cinema-Yalta 2007 festival, a holder of the International Nikolai Gogol Award in Italy (2012).

The theater festival will be held in Mogilev for its ninth time. Theater lovers will enjoy different-genre performances with a focus on dramaturgy and classics. Among the guests of the festival will be theater companies from Moscow, Lviv, Vilnius, Berlin, London and other cities. The organizers of the forum promise a nontraditional interpretation of classic works, familiarization with modern European trends.

Traditionally the festival will offer an extensive special program. It will include daily press conferences and discussions with the participation of the jury members and critics, roundtables and a workshop of young directors. A series of master classes will be held under the auspices of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute in Warsaw.
