Six countries to partake in Polotsk medieval festival Rubon

VITEBSK, 23 May (BelTA) – The medieval festival Rubon 2014 will gather in Polotsk knights, musicians and craftsmen from Belarus, Russia, Lithuania, Latvia, Ukraine and Estonia. The culinary festival featuring representatives of Belarus, Lithuania and Latvia will be as part of Rubon 2014 for the first time, BelTA learnt from the organizers.

The event will kick off today with a concert program featuring medieval music bands such as Stary Olsa, Auli, Spiritual Seasons. The main spectacle will take place in Polotsk on Saturday. The city will host medieval tournaments, a cavalry show, the Castle Assault reenactment (as part of the Latvia-Lithuania-Belarus cross-border cooperation project Museum Gate), medieval music concerts, arts and crafts master classes.

The culinary festival is part of the EU Bella Cuisine project. Partaking in the event will be 70 cooks (Belarus will be represented by Miory and Polotsk Districts) who will demonstrate their national dishes.

The closing and awarding ceremonies will be held on 25 May.

The festival is organized by the Polotsk District Executive Committee, Craftsmen Gallery Company, the folk costume theater Polatski Zvyaz, the international dialogue and cooperation promotion fund Interaction.

The Polotsk medieval festival Rubon made part of the Bella Dvina international tourist route in 2010.
