Mogilev to host international pop song festival on 22-29 October

International music festival Zolotoi Shlyager in MogilevMOGILEV, 30 August (BelTA) – The international music festival Zolotoi Shlyager (golden chartbuster) will take place in Mogilev on 22-29 October, representatives of the Mogilev Oblast Philharmonic told BelTA.

The festival will open with a concert by Chingis Ayushev (a soloist of the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Music Theater) and Yelena Ayusheva (a soloist at Teatro Massimo Bellini, Sicily) accompanied by the folk instruments orchestra named after People’s Artist of Belarus Leonid Ivanov.

The seven days of the festival will be full of various concerts and events featuring pop singers. For instance, an agreement has been reached that People’s Artist of Russia Alexander Malinin will perform a solo concert. The Mogilev Oblast Philharmonic is getting ready to present a special music program featuring golden hit songs from movies. Fans will be able to appreciate performances by the Russian music band Sinyaya Ptitsa, the Pavel Smirnov Orchestra of accordionists, and the National Academic Concert Orchestra of Belarus directed by Mikhail Finberg.

A concert of foreign and domestic jazz stars will surely deliver vivid impressions during the festival. It will feature Olga Pirags (Latvia), Quentin Moore (USA), the vocal quartet Minsk Voices and Premier Orchestra (Belarus).

The first music festival Zolotoi Shlyager (golden chartbuster) was organized in November 1995 with support of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko. The music forum is now part of the International Federation of Festival Organizations (FIDOF), which unites over 150 festivals across the globe. Over the course of its history the festival welcomed internationally recognized artists from over 25 countries. The music festival represents a unique phenomenon in the cultural life of Mogilev Oblast and Belarus as a whole as well as international life. The festival has been praised as a celebration of singing and music. It has been noted for its lofty poetry, deep lyricism and cordiality since the festival was originally intended to get together the top “forgotten” USSR singers.
