GRODNO, 17 December (BelTA) - Mir Castle will host Christmas balls for children and adults, BelTA has learnt from the directorate of the museum.

This is the second time the museum will hold costume Christmas balls in early January. On 3 January the Portrait Hall of the castle will become the venue for the Mir Ball that will reconstruct the romantic atmosphere of the times when balls were integral part of the social life. The guests will waltz and dance the polonaise near the Christmas tree and will play table and action games. Men will be wearing suits, and women evening gowns. On 5 January a 20th century retro salon will open in the castle. People will dance to the live music by a jazz band, will participate in a photo shoot in the interior of the 1920-1930s and in a night tour around the luxurious halls of the castle, and will watch silent movies. The most stylish and elegant couple will be awarded with a surprise gift at the end of the ball.

A Christmas ball for children will be held at the Dining Hut on 5 January. Children aged from 6 to 13 will dance and play games. The Princess of the castle and ladies in waiting will participate in a fairytale performance and give presents to the children.

The directorate of the museum said that the events have become popular with people, but the attendance to the Christmas balls is limited. The tickets for the ball for children are almost completely sold out.

Mir Castle will also host a unique exhibition of garments and accessories on the eve of the New Year holidays.

The exhibition “Spirit of Times and Luxury: Fashion and Style of 1820-1920” from the private collection of Igor Surmachevsky will open at the Ivory Hall of Mir Castle on 20 December. The exhibition will feature evening gowns, ball dresses, wedding gowns, shoes, and accessories of the ladies who lived in Paris, London, Vienna, Prague, and New York. The exhibition will perfectly fit in the Christmas and New Year celebrations at Mir Castle.
