Japanese Autumn in Belarus festival to kick off on 20 September

MINSK, 19 September (BelTA) – A festival of Japanese culture, Japanese Autumn in Belarus, will be held in several Belarusian cities from September till November, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in Japan.

The festival will start on 20 September with an Aikido master class that will be held in the sports complex of the Belarusian National Technical University. The solemn opening ceremony of the festival will take place at the National Art Museum of Belarus the following day. The museum will host an exhibition of Japanese graphics of the 1970s.

A 3D scanner and a 3D printer for making copies of exhibition items, a set of audio guides with built-in screens to display in text for the deaf and the hearing impaired, and elevators for disabled will be donated to the museum under the grant assistance program for grassroots projects in culture and sport of the Japanese government.

Within three months Minsk, Grodno, Gomel, and Borisov will see a cycle of cultural events on various aspects of traditional and contemporary Japanese culture.

The program of the festival will include numerous lectures and master classes, concerts and film screenings, exhibitions and sports competitions, and many more events. Belarus will host many Japanese musicians and artists, masters of tea ceremony, ikebana, karate and Aikido.
