MINSK, 26 May (BelTA) – Over 210,000 people took part in the festivities timed to the closing ceremony of the ice hockey world championship in Minsk, the press service of the Minsk City Police Department told BelTA.
The largest crowds turned up in hospitality zones: about 140,000 people near the Sports Palace, about 40,000 people in the Student Village, and about 30,000 people near Minsk Arena. For the entire final day of the ice hockey world championship concerts were staged in the Student Village and near the Sports Palace and the Minsk City Ice Sport Palace. Laser-powered 3D shows were arranged in the latter two venues at 01:30-02:15.
The entire personnel of the Minsk City Police Department as well as personnel borrowed from police departments of other oblasts and riot police units were employed to keep order and ensure safety of the people. Law enforcement officers managed to keep order, stressed the source. No serious violations of the public order or emergencies occurred.
