MINSK, 26 May (BelTA) – The ice hockey world championship in Minsk is now officially over, BelTA has learned.
International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) President Rene Fasel declared the championship closed. Just the way he did it during the opening ceremony he spoke part of his speech in Russian. “Thank you very much, Minsk! Thank you very much, Belarus! Dear fans, we love you! Take care and good bye,” said the IIHF head.
On 25 May Minsk Arena hosted the final game, with Russia winning gold and Finland left with silver. Before that the Swedish team beat the Czech team to win bronze.
