Belarus’ National History Museum to display rare 16th-18th century books

MINSK, 6 February (BelTA) – Belarus’ National History Museum will showcase rare books of the 16th-18th centuries, the main one being the Bible printed in Brest in 1563, BelTA learned from the museum.

The international exhibition “The Radziwills. The Great Era of the Dukes” will officially open on 11 February. The project will show the historical events which the representatives of the famous dynasty took part in. The exhibition was a success in Lithuania.

Among the exhibits from Lithuania are the artistically cast and forged items, polychromatic tiles. The Belarusian side together with other exhibitors will present the documents from the 16th-19th centuries from Slutsk Holy Trinity monastery. The decrypted documentary texts reflect different aspects of the life of the society of past centuries. Most of these archival documents were not displayed before.

All the items displayed at the exhibition are original. Visitors will be able to see the things that witnessed the life and work of the representatives of the great family.

Participants of the exhibition from Lithuania are Birzai Region Museum Sela, Kedainiai Regional Museum, and the National Museum Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania (Vilnius). On behalf of Belarus the participants in the project are the National History Museum and the National Library.

The exhibition is supported by JTI (Japan Tobacco International). It will be running till 28 March.
