Minsk to host Belarus’ first philosophy congress on 18-20 October

MINSK, 21 September (BelTA) – Belarus’ first philosophy congress “National philosophy in the global world” will be held in Minsk on 18-20 October, BelTA learned from the press service of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB).

The congress will be Belarus’ largest scientific forum in the field of philosophy, social sciences and humanities, an important event of the Year of Science marked in the country in 2017. It will be attended by more than 500 Belarusian scientists, educators, graduate students, representatives of the expert community from Belarus, the Eurasian Economic Union member states, Europe, Asia and America. Among the guests of the congress will be heads of the international scientific organizations and foundations, and leaders of the national philosophical schools of several states.

The organizers see the congress as a tool for consolidation of Belarusian scientists to address the fundamental challenges of development of the state, society and culture, and also as a means of demonstrating the achievements of Belarusian science, the heritage of native spiritual culture, intellectual potential of Belarus, the country's contribution to the peace process and solution of global problems.

The meeting of the organizing committee on 20 September was chaired by NASB Presidium head Vladimir Gusakov and was attended by Culture Minister Boris Svetlov, officials of the Education Ministry, the Minsk City Hall and heads of the organizations that will host the events of the congress: the NASB Institute of Philosophy, Belarusian State University, and the Academy of Public Administration under the aegis of the President of Belarus. The meeting participants discussed the preparation of the congress, its scientific program, and reception of distinguished foreign guests.
