“I am happy to see Lenina Street without cars. It looks much better now. Minsk is a European city and impresses with its long-distance bicycle paths. Foreigners enjoy their stay here. It is great to see the European Mobility Week initiative continue. In 2016 it featured only three Belarusian cities. By now their number has reached 68,” said UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Belarus Joanna Kazana-Wisniowiecki.

Joanna Kazana-Wisniowiecki stressed that the Car Free Day idea is closely linked to the Sustainable Development Goals health target which is to halve the number of global deaths and injuries from road traffic accidents by 2030.
