BELOVEZHSKAYA PUSHCHA: Visit the oldest forest of Europe, see one of the largest populations of the European bison, and call on Ded Moroz, the Belarusian Santa

The most fairy-tale-ish place in Belarus is located close to the legendary city of Brest which is famous for its hero fortress and the brave feats of the soldiers of the Great Patriotic War.  It is currently busy gearing up for the celebrations of its 1,000th anniversary. The Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is home to the residence of the Belarusian Ded Moroz who welcomes guests all year round. Naturally, the main celebrations take place here during the Christmas and New Year holidays. The border guards at the international border checkpoint Pererov-Belovezha traditionally let in the New Year through the Belarusian border every December… By the way, starting from 2015, tourists are allowed to enter Belarus via this checkpoint visa-free for up to three days
