Belarus, Turkmenistan confirm readiness to expand all-round cooperation

ASHGABAT, 30 March (BelTA) – Belarus and Turkmenistan confirm readiness to expand bilateral relations in various areas, runs the joint statement that Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow adopted at the end of the talks on 30 March, BelTA has learned.

The parties took note of the interstate dialogue and praised the implementation of the agreements that were reached before. The leaders of the two countries confirmed readiness to expand bilateral relations in the political, trade and economic, sci-tech, cultural, humanitarian and other areas.

The Presidents emphasized mutual interest in promoting peace and stability, establishing the atmosphere of trust and mutual understanding at the regional and international levels.

Belarus, Turkmenistan confirm readiness to expand all-round cooperationKeeping in mind a huge transit and transport potential of the two states, Alexander Lukashenko and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow attach great importance to developing cooperation in the transport and communication sector. As for further expansion of cultural and humanitarian ties, the parties reaffirmed the need to focus the efforts of the two countries on the priority areas of cooperation in science, technology and education.

The heads of state welcomed the commissioning of the Garlyk mining and processing factory and the official opening of the Belarusian embassy in Turkmenistan, which testifies to the long-term partnership between the two countries.

ASHGABAT, 30 March (BelTA) – Belarus and Turkmenistan have signed 11 documents on the development of cooperation in different areas, BelTA has learned.

After a meeting on 30 March, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow adopted a joint statement, in which they stressed the considerable momentum in the interstate dialogue and the positive results of the implementation of the previously signed agreements. The two leaders reiterated the countries’ readiness to step up the bilateral relations in politics, trade, economy, science, technology, culture, humanitarian affairs and other areas.

Belarus, Turkmenistan sign 11 cooperation documentsA number of documents were signed to strengthen the cooperation in education. Cooperation agreements were concluded between Belarusian Trade and Economics University of Consumer Cooperatives and Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management, Alexander Pushkin Brest State University and Seyitnazar Seydi Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute, Brest State Technical University and Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management, Brest State Technical University and Turkmen State Institute of Energy.

Belarus, Turkmenistan sign 11 cooperation documentsPolotsk State University and International Oil and Gas University signed a memorandum of cooperation. Belarusian State Technological University and the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan inked an agreement on cooperation in science and technology, innovations, education and personnel training.

Belarus, Turkmenistan sign 11 cooperation documentsThe set of documents was complemented by an agreement between the governments of Belarus and Turkmenistan on cooperation in fighting crime and the program for cooperation in tourism between the Sports and Tourism Ministry of Belarus and the State Committee for Tourism of Turkmenistan in 2017-2018.

The parties also signed two protocols. One of them to approve the list of goods exempt from VAT if supplied to trading houses, and the other to adopt an action plan to implement the program of intergovernmental cooperation in culture and art in 2017-2020.
