ABU DHABI, 28 October (BelTA) – It is important for Belarus to promote cooperation with the United Arab Emirates. Belarus sees great reserves in boosting the bilateral ties. The matter was discussed at the meeting between Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on 28 October, BelTA has learned.
The meeting lasted for more than two hours. The parties discussed both current and promising projects.
Alexander Lukashenko and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan gave instructions to select three to four key projects that could advance the bilateral relations to a brand new level.
The parties welcomed the results of the second session of the Belarus-UAE intergovernmental cooperation committee.
The UAE is Belarus’ biggest partner among Arab states of the Gulf. Belarus’ major exports to the UAE include component parts for cars and tractors, tobacco products, synthetic fibers, engines and power units, potash fertilizers, bearings, semitrailers and trailers. Fourteen organizations with Emirati capital were registered in Belarus in 2013. $54 million of Emirati investments was raised by Belarus the same year.
Belarus and the UAE have developed a high level of political cooperation. The two countries share views on the key issues of the international agenda of the United Nations.
