MINSK, 26 June (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko invited Uzbekistan to build an embassy building in Minsk, BelTA has learned.
“Belarus and Uzbekistan have done a lot already,” the head of state said addressing Uzbek Ambassador to Belarus Nasirdzhan Yusupov after the ceremony. “If you decide to build the embassy here, we can offer you a good site,” he noted.
During the ceremony of receiving the credentials from foreign ambassadors, among whom was the Uzbekistan diplomat, the head of state noted that this year marks 25 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Belarus and Uzbekistan. “We cherish friendship between Belarusian and Uzbek peoples. We welcome the decision of our long-standing partner to open a full diplomatic representation in Minsk. This is an important and timely step that demonstrates the focus on all-round dialogue,” the Belarusian leader said.
The Belarusian president anticipated the intention of Uzbekistan to construct the embassy building in Minsk, Ambassador Nasirdzhan Yusupov told the media after the ceremony. “For us, this is a very flattering offer, and we are going to proceed to its implementation soon. First, we need to solve some technical and organizational issues of course,” he said.
The ambassador noted that the Belarusian-Uzbek relations have been recently developing quite rapidly, and there is a mutual interest. Currently, both sides are actively preparing for the the Belarus president’s visit to Uzbekistan this year.
