Tentative plans for assembling Belarusian tractors in Brazil

MINSK, 29 November (BelTA) – A Belarusian delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Kalinin was in Brazil on 28 November. While in Brazil the Belarusian delegation went to the agribusiness district in the city of Anapolis, State of Goias where an enterprise to assemble Belarusian tractors may be set up, representatives of the embassy of Belarus in Brazil told BelTA.

A presentation of the regional infrastructure was arranged. Members of the delegation also visited the Anapolis Center-West dry port, which is the largest logistics hub in the State of Goias.

The head of the Belarusian delegation met with State of Goias Vice Governor Jose Eliton in the state’s capital city Goiania in the afternoon. The sides discussed possibilities of cooperation between Belarus and the State of Goias in agriculture and agribusiness, interregional cooperation, cooperation in education in culture, science and technology, tourism and sport. A protocol of intent to start assembling Belarusian tractors in the State of Goias was signed as a result of the meeting.

The Belarusian delegation also met with State of Goias Minister for Economic Development Francisco Pontes and President of the Federation of Industries of the State of Goias Pedro Alves de Oliveira.

A business matchmaking session for the business part of the Belarusian delegation and representatives of the business circles of Brazil was arranged in the city of Sao Paulo on 28 November. During the event the sides discussed avenues of bilateral cooperation and concrete possibilities for signing contracts. The contracts are supposed to be signed during a business forum on 29 November.
