MINSK, 24 August (BelTA) – Ten Ukrainian citizens and ten Russian servicemen have returned home following a prisoner swap. Belarus hosted the exchange, BelTA reports with reference to the First News TV channel.
By consistently maintaining a peaceful stance and acting as a reliable venue for dialogue, Belarus has fulfilled another humanitarian mission.
Following instructions from Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, a mechanism put into action to repatriate ten Ukrainian citizens and ten Russian servicemen previously held in captivity.
The humanitarian mission was noted to have been conducted in strict accordance with international humanitarian law.
