Myasnikovich: Belarus and Lithuania need long-term economic cooperation

MOGILEV, 4 November (BelTA) – Belarus and Lithuania need to develop long-term economic cooperation, Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich said at a plenary session of the 10th Belarusian-Lithuanian Economic Forum in Mogilev on 4 November, BelTA has learned.

10th Belarusian-Lithuanian Economic Forum in MogilevAccording to the head of government, Belarus and Lithuania are united by common history, culture, and close economic ties. It gives the opportunity for successful cooperation. “We enjoy good trade and economic relations. It would be great, however, if we paid more attention to long-term economic cooperation. First if all, it could be made possible by setting up joint companies. These are those points of no return that we should come through in our bilateral cooperation,” the Premier believes.

10th Belarusian-Lithuanian Economic Forum in MogilevMikhail Myasnikovich assured that the Belarusian government would create all necessary conditions to set up more joint companies so they could set themselves on the markets of our states and work actively with third countries. According to the Prime Minister, new opportunities open to Belarus’ partners on the Russian and Kazakhstani markets as the Eurasian Economic Union goes operational on 1 January 2015. “It can be viewed as a long-term and interesting priority. The trust between the two countries is equally important in our relations. I think we have it between the business circles as well as the governments of our countries. Strong delegations taking part in the 10th Belarusian-Lithuanian Economic Forum prove the fact that we have beneficent and trust-based relations,” Mikhail Myasnikovich said.

The Belarusian Premier stressed that such relations are of high significance especially amid today’s serious economic challenges that require decisive actions and consolidation of efforts. “Our joint activity includes hundreds of companies that employ thousands of people. We must create decent conditions for them in order to make it mutually beneficial cooperation,” the Prime Minister underlined.
