MINSK, 25 May (BelTA) – Belarus intends to add more sites of its own to UNESCO lists, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA.
Acting as the chairman of the national commission on UNESCO affairs, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei held a conference on promoting Belarusian sites into UNESCO lists on 25 May. Participants of the conference discussed a large number of matters relating to the implementation of Belarus’ commitments to follow UNESCO conventions on cultural affairs and the preservation of historical and cultural legacy. Apart from that, an algorithm for joint actions to expand the presence of Belarusian sites in the UNESCO lists was worked out and agreed.
Taking part in the event were representatives of the Belarusian Culture Ministry, the Archives and Records Department of the Justice Ministry, the Minsk City Executive Committee, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Center for Belarusian Culture, Language, and Literature Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, and experts.
