Belarus, Iran mull over interstate contacts at supreme level

MINSK, 5 June (BelTA) – Belarus and Iran are mulling over interstate contacts at the supreme level. The matter was discussed at a meeting between Belarus’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Dapkiunas and Iran’s Ambassador to Belarus Mostafa Oveisi, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The diplomats discussed plans and further steps for interstate contacts at the supreme level, cooperation in agriculture, the prospects of supplying Belarusian animal products to Iran, interaction in international organizations, and prospects of cooperation in the oil industry.

The parties also talked over the situation which has recently developed after the United States’ decision on Iran’s nuclear deal. Mostafa Oveisi voiced Iran’s condemnation of the U.S. steps and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to the agreement if the 5+1 format remains in force.

Andrei Dapkiunas noted that Belarus supports the further implementation of the joint comprehensive action plan and views it as an important instrument for strengthening the regional and global security and stability.
