Belarus’ foreign minister to visit Zimbabwe on 21-23 February

MINSK, 20 February (BelTA) – Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Aleinik is set to visit Harare, Zimbabwe on 21-23 February to hold the first meeting of the Joint Permanent Commission for Cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Zimbabwe, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Belarusian delegation will include heads and staff of the ministries of industry, agriculture and food, healthcare, education, a number of state enterprises and concerns of the country.

The Zimbabwean delegation will be headed by Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Frederick Shava. Plans are in place to discuss a wide range of issues of trade, economic, investment, and industrial cooperation, Belarus' participation in the mechanization of Zimbabwe's agriculture, strengthening food security of the African state.

The agenda of the talks will include a number of specific economic projects aimed at bringing bilateral interaction to a qualitatively new level and increasing trade between the countries.

The participants of the meeting are also expected to visit a service center for Belarusian machinery and take part in a presentation of Belarusian milk processing companies. Negotiations with a number of Zimbabwean officials are also on the agenda.

Harare is currently hosting the Belarusian-Zimbabwean Business Forum.
