Vladimir Oblast governor names key areas for cooperation with Belarus

Vladimir Oblast governor names key areas for cooperation with Belarus

MINSK, 16 May (BelTA) - Governor of Russia's Vladimir Oblast Alexander Avdeyev spoke about the interests of the Russian region in Belarus as he met with Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko on 16 May, BelTA has learned.

Belarus is a reliable and traditional partner of Vladimir Oblast and ranks second among the CIS countries in terms of trade, Alexander Avdeyev said. “The economic structures of Belarus and Vladimir Oblast are similar. The basis is industry and agriculture. That is what we should focus on when building cooperative ties. Belarusian agricultural equipment is traditionally in high demand in Vladimir Oblast, and we are planning to buy a large amount of such equipment within a year,” he said.

The delegation of the Russian region has already visited the industrial enterprises of Belarus and got familiar with the range of products. “In the medium term we have planned to renew the fleet of public transport. Many Russian regions are already cooperating with Belarusian manufacturers. About a hundred buses will also be replaced in Vladimir in the near future. We are considering products from Minsk manufacturers,” the head of the Russian region said.

A session of the working group for cooperation between Belarus and Vladimir Oblast took place during the visit of the delegation. More than ten agreements were signed and plans for the development of cooperation in the coming years were outlined, the governor said. “We keep working on agricultural cooperation. This includes supplies of seeds and young plants. We have big companies to process meat, make sausage products and semi-finished products in the region, but the meat production volume is low. That is why we see great prospects in cooperation with Belarusian agricultural enterprises,” he explained.

According to Alexander Avdeyev, Belarus and Vladimir Oblast have good potential in housing and social facilities construction. “We have a large program of industrial development. A lot of new jobs are created and there is a need to build housing for specialists,” the governor said.

Belarus and Vladimir Oblast are working on import substitution. “We are actively replacing equipment, materials, machinery, components and various finished products that have become unavailable due to sanctions. The Vladimir Oblast enterprises are ready to cooperate with Belarusian companies in various areas. We are looking at the needs of the enterprises to find beneficial cooperative ties,” he concluded.
