MINSK, 1 November (BelTA) – Ten million tonnes of grain, including rapeseed and maize, has been threshed in Belarus, BelTA learned from Head of the Crop Production Directorate of the Agriculture and Food Ministry of Belarus Nikolai Leshik.

“We have already harvested ten million tonnes of grain. A little more than nine million tonnes of cereal crops and maize and over 900,000 tonnes of rapeseed have been threshed,” Nikolai Leshik said.

On the morning of 1 November, grain and leguminous crops (including maize) were harvested from 2.32 million hectares, which is 96.5% of the plan.

Maize for grain was harvested from the area of 151,500ha (64.4%), producing 1.046 million tonnes with the average yield at 69 centners per hectare. Maize meant for silage and green fodder was harvested from the area of 926,900 hectares, or more than 90% of the target.

Sugar beet was cleared from 75,700 hectares, or 81% of the targeted area. More than 3.3 million tonnes of sugar beet  was harvested. Potatoes were cleared from the area of 25,700 hectares or 99.1% of the plan, which is 777,500 tonnes. Other vegetables were harvested from 5,250 hectares or 77.9% of the targeted area.
