PM: Trade between Belarus, Russia’s Krasnodar Territory up by quarter since year-start

MINSK, 18 September (BelTA) -  Since the beginning of 2023, trade between Belarus and Russia’s Krasnodar Territory has increased by a quarter, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said during a meeting with Krasnodar Territory  Governor Veniamin Kondratiev, BelTA has learned.

"Despite all the difficulties, we are confidently moving along the planned trajectory. The results speak for themselves. Last year our trade rose by about 60%. This year the growth is 25%. These figures have been achieved thanks to purposeful and well-coordinated work by both sides. We always cite trade and economic relations with Krasnodar Territory as an example of cooperation with the regions of the Russian Federation," Roman Golovchenko said.

He noted that the Russian region has done a lot of work to create modern enterprises and new jobs, localize production. "This is the policy of the leadership of the Russian Federation and Belarus. It is in this vein that effective cooperation within the framework of the Union State should develop," the prime minister stressed.

He also noted that the interaction of Belarus with Krasnodar Territory has been developing dynamically and holistically. "I remember well how you launched the  cooperation projects in mechanical engineering. These are tractors and combine harvesters. We have also made significant progress in terms of passenger vehicles and elevator equipment. The machine-building industry is an extensive field of cooperation and requires special attention," the Belarusian head of government said.

Cooperation in the construction industry has also gained momentum. "There are good figures in terms of building materials. Our state-owned enterprise is actively involved in the design and construction of a new educational unit of a secondary school in Krasnodar. I hope this project will mark the beginning of a large-scale participation of Belarusian builders in the construction of facilities in your region," Roman Golovchenko added.

Veniamin Kondratiev noted that the parties are working together for results in the face of today's challenges and difficulties. A roadmap for cooperation is being implemented. The focus is on industrial cooperation to ensure the development of high-tech agriculture. "We view MTZ, Gomselmash as the partners that will help us grow our agricultural industry. It is not enough to ensure high yields. Crops need to be harvested, preserved. For this, we need farm machines: high-quality, modern, meeting all requirements. Kuban is the breadbasket of Russia and the guarantor of food security. This is why our industrial cooperation is so important," he stressed.
