PM: Belarus, Russia's Sverdlovsk Oblast well-positioned to hit $1bn in trade

MINSK, 28 April (BelTA) – Belarus and Sverdlovsk Oblast of Russia are well-positioned to hit $1 billion in trade, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said during a meeting with Governor of Sverdlovsk Oblast Evgeny Kuyvashev, BelTA has learned.

Roman Golovchenko noted that the first quarter was optimistic in terms of trade between Belarus and Sverdlovsk Oblast. "The growth was 40% year-on-year. I think that the figure of $1 billion is quite reachable. The Innoprom exhibition will give impetus to this," the Belarusian head of government said.

During the meeting, Evgeny Kuyvashev thanked Belarus for the delivery of a batch of trolleybuses and noted that Belarusians produce high-quality road transport.

In response, Roman Golovchenko noted that this topic is trending. "At meetings in Novosibirsk Oblast and Irkutsk Oblast, we also received positive feedback about Belarusian trolleybuses. We see the willingness to engage our capabilities in the modernization of the transport networks. This applies to all types of passenger transport: trucks, utility vehicles and others. We have signed a big contract to supply trolleybuses with Yekaterinburg. We are hoping for the progress in terms of in other means of transport, for example, utility vehicles," the prime minister said.

The head of government added that BelAZ survived the sanctions absolutely calmly. "We have found solutions to replace all spare parts. Supplies are growing even compared to the pre-sanctions period," he concluded.

A Belarusian government delegation headed by Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko is on a working visit to three Russian regions: Novosibirsk, Irkutsk and Sverdlovsk, from 26 to 28 April.
