PM: Belarus’ GDP growth remains strong in January-September 2023

MINSK, 15 November (BelTA) – Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko summed up the country’s economic performance in January-September during a meeting of the Council of Ministers, BelTA has learned.

"We will examine the country’s social and economic development in January-September of this year. In January-September 2023, GDP grew by 3.5% as the recovery dynamics remained in place in the main industries. In September the GDP went up by 6.2% (in annual terms). All regions made a contribution to GDP growth. Minsk Oblast remains in the economic driver’s seat," Roman Golovchenko said.

The most important qualitative indicator - real disposable personal income - increased by 5.1% in January-August. In addition, in September the salaries reached Br1,940 (by 10.1% in real terms). The task of increasing the level of income in the public sector is being progressively addressed.

"Foreign trade is balanced. The measures taken jointly with the National Bank made it possible to keep the inflation rate within acceptable parameters - 4.3% by December of this year," the prime minister said.

Belarusian Economy Minister Aleksandr Chervyakov made comments about the foreign trade as he talked to the media. "Belarus has a surplus of foreign trade in goods and services. This means that the mechanisms that we use to step up exports are working," he noted.
