PM: $500m in Belarus-Vladimir Oblast trade is an achievable goal

PM: $500m in Belarus-Vladimir Oblast trade is an achievable goal

MINSK, 16 May (BelTA) - Reaching $500 million in trade between Belarus and Russia’s Vladimir Oblast by the end of the year is a quite achievable goal, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said as he met with Vladimir Oblast Governor Alexander Avdeyev on 16 May, BelTA has learned.

Vladimir Oblast is an important trade partner of Belarus, Roman Golovchenko said. “The Belarusian president highly appreciated the results of cooperation between Belarus and Vladimir Oblast, judging by the results of today's meeting. He outlined a range of prospective issues for increasing the volume of trade and economic cooperation. Our meeting should be focused on the implementation of these issues,” he stressed.

According to Roman Golovchenko, mutual trade shows an active upward trend. “In 2022 the trade exceeded $410 million and increased by almost 20% year-on-year. The beginning of this year also shows good dynamics. The bilateral trade has grown by almost a third to the same period last year and reached almost $100 million. Given the achievements at the start of the year, the figure of $500 million by the end of 2023 will be quite manageable. I would say that it is not a very difficult task, which should be taken as a benchmark,” the Belarusian head of government said.
