MINSK, 17 December (BelTA) – Belarus and China will set up a fire safety and industrial safety center, BelTA learned from Belarusian Emergencies Minister Vladimir Vashchenko after the minister met with Chinese Deputy Emergency Management Minister Shang Yong on 17 December.
Vladimir Vashchenko said: “There are plans to set up a Belarusian-Chinese center on fire safety and industrial safety in the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone. We’ve suggested setting up a working group, which will include specialists of the two ministries and will work on the matter.”
The official said that taking care of fire safety and industrial safety is a top priority for the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry. “A new fire station will be commissioned in the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone this year. It will be staffed with highly trained specialists, modern fire-fighting and rescue vehicles and equipment,” noted the emergencies minister.
While in Belarus the Chinese delegation was made familiar with the national center for managing and responding to emergencies and with the Belarusian experience of training emergency response specialists. In particular, as they visited the Civil Protection University of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry the Chinese specialists were made familiar with the software used by the university, with the history of the university, classrooms, the library, physical infrastructure and the organization of the educational process, and the living standards the students enjoy.
The guests saw capabilities of the sport infrastructure of the university and the facilities used to train fire fighters in conditions resembling an actual emergency as much as possible.
