MINSK, 18 July (BelTA) -  The Bobruisk Plant of Tractor Parts and Units, which is part of MTZ Holding Company, plans to set up a joint production of small BELARUS vehicles in Cuba, the head of  marketing and sales of the Bobruisk plant Sergei Maslakov was quoted by the MTZ press service as saying, BelTA has learned.

"Recently, our plant hosted representatives of GESIME Group of Companies and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to Belarus Santiago Perez Benitez. During the meeting we discussed a project to assemble small BELARUS tractors at the manufacturing facilities in the city of Holguín," Sergei Maslakov noted. Earlier, the Bobruisk plant handed over to the Cuban side a list of equipment necessary for the production of small BELARUS tractors.

Currently, about 120,000 tractors of Belarusian and Russian make are in use in Cuba. The MTZ 80 model is especially common. During the talks, the Cuban side expressed interest in purchasing spare parts for Belarusian tractors. "Original spare parts will allow Cuban farmers to extend the life of the vehicles. Now we are agreeing on prices and quantities of products," Sergei Maslakov explained.

The press service noted that MTZ Director General Vitaly Vovk is now in Cuba as part of a representative Belarusian delegation.

Bobruisk Plant of Tractor Parts and Units is a modern industrial enterprise that produces BELARUS tractors for agricultural and utility sectors, spare parts and wheel rims. On 1 August 2014, it was incorporated into MTZ Holding Company.
