Moldova hopes for increase in arrivals from Belarus as new Minsk-Chisinau flight goes online

Moldova hopes for increase in arrivals from Belarus as new Minsk-Chisinau flight goes online

CHISINAU, 11 December (BelTA) – Moldova hopes that the number of arrivals from Belarus will increase due to the launch of a new Minsk-Chisinau flight, President of the National Association of Tourism Legal Agents of Moldova (ANAT) Anna Kolta told the media on 11 December, BelTA has learned.

“We hope that thanks to the Minsk-Chisinau flight, the passenger traffic will increase and more Belarusian tourists will visit Moldova,” said Anna Kolta.

The Belarusian air carrier Belavia launched a regular flight from Minsk to Chisinau on 30 October. Now, flights to Chisinau are carried out five times a week. General Director of Avia-Invest SRL – Chisinau International Airport Petru Jardan expects that flights may become more frequent in the future. “The route is popular. We hope the number of flights per week will increase to 7, or even 14, in the future,” he said.

Alexander Istomin, Senior Counselor at the Belarusian embassy in Moldova, stated that cooperation between the two countries has recently intensified at all the levels. “Direct flights also open up new tourism opportunities,” he added.

An information tour has been organized between Moldova and Belarus with a view to strengthening cooperation in tourism. At the invitation of the Moldovan Investment Agency, a delegation from Minsk, including officials, tour operators, journalists and bloggers, has arrived in Chisinau. On 11-14 December, the tour will feature visits to the most important tourist sites of Moldova, familiarization with the country's tourism potential, and a B2B meeting between travel agencies of both countries.
