Mexico, Belarus urged to tap into potential of cooperation

MINSK, 15 June (BelTA) - The potential of cooperation between Mexico and Belarus is not fully used, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Mexican States to the Russian Federation and concurrently the Republic of Belarus Eduardo Villegas Mejias told the media after a meeting with Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko in Minsk on 15 June, BelTA has learned.

"The potential between Mexico and Belarus is not exhausted. We would like all the opportunities that we have to materialize," Ambassador Eduardo Villegas Mejias noted. “We are now talking about increasing trade. We would also like to make use of everything that Belarus produces, because agricultural products are of primary importance for Mexico. We would also like to develop cooperation in other sectors that are well developed in Belarus. Of course, we are also talking about the IT sector. And in general, my presence here now after accreditation will contribute to the more dynamic development of our relations."

According to him, Mexico is interested in intensifying humanitarian cooperation with Belarus. "I worked in these matters for four years in the Presidential Administration. I am well versed in all the specifics of the Mexican culture and, believe me, I will be working to establish an exchange with Belarus in this area. We have a good cinema art, and I am sure that Belarusians will like it very much. We also have good literature and art. Therefore, we have a lot of opportunities for the development of our cooperation," the ambassador stressed.
