Light industry enterprises of Belarus, Uzbekistan sign contracts worth over $2.5m

MINSK, 5 September (BelTA) – Light industry enterprises of Belarus and Uzbekistan have signed contracts worth over $2.5 million, BelTA learned from Chairwoman of the Belarusian state light industry concern Bellegprom Tatiana Lugina at a panel session of the Belarusian-Uzbek women’s business forum.

In particular, Furskins Company and Marko signed an agreement of intent to set up a joint venture to process all kinds of skins and furs. The Uzbekistan Textile and Garment Industry Association (Uztekstilprom) and the design center of OAO Kamvol reached an agreement on cooperation.

OOO Charog'on Tekstil signed a memorandum of intent to buy worsted fabric for school uniforms. ZAO Kalinka and OOO Chirchiq Mega Bizness signed a contract on selling jeans apparel.

Tatiana Lugina said: “On the whole, we have many contact points. We understand each other really well. We have tight relations with businesses, with partners. There are dealerships. Proprietary stores are being opened. This is why we have to build up potential. I am absolutely convinced that the volume of trade turnover and cooperation within the framework of light industry is not the limit. And this forum will bring our positions closer, will give a nudge to building up mutual trade, to sharing competences and experience.”

As part of the first Belarusian-Uzbek women’s business forum the Minsk City Palace of Culture hosted the panel session on promising avenues of cooperation in light industry on 5 September. The sides discussed matters concerning the development of manufacturing cooperation ties and the realization of joint projects, the provision of the industry with raw materials and qualified personnel. A fact-finding tour of OAO Kamvol’s production floors was also arranged.
