Grain harvest in Belarus exceeds 7.1m tonnes

MINSK, 9 September (BelTA) – As of 9 September, some 7,106,400 tonnes of grain, including rapeseed, was cropped in Belarus, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

This included 6,126,000 tonnes of grain and leguminous crops and over 980,400 tonnes of rapeseed.

Harvesting of corn for grain is underway in Brest Oblast, Minsk Oblast and Gomel Oblast, with 1,970 hectares of land already cleared. Some 14,700 tonnes of grain was threshed, with the yield averaging 74.6 centners per hectare.

Some 4,656,400 tonnes of corn for silage were cropped so far.

In addition to that, 20,900 tonnes of buckwheat and 12,100 tonnes of millet were threshed.

The flax straw harvest exceeded 79,700 tonnes.

Cereal and legume straws were harvested from 75% of the area.

Belarusian agricultural workers are harvesting potatoes. Some 108,700 tonnes of potatoes were removed from fields. The yield is 359.1 centners per hectare.

Sugar beet harvesting is underway in Belarus. Some 226,900 tonnes of sugar were removed, with the yield averaging 437.8 centners per hectare.
