First Belarus-Uzbekistan women’s business forum expected to net Br50m worth of contracts

MINSK, 30 August (BelTA) – There are plans to sign contracts and agreements worth about Br50 million on the sidelines of the first Belarus-Uzbekistan women’s business forum, BelTA learned from Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova.

An organizational conference took place at premises of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus on 30 August to discuss preparations for the first Belarusian-Uzbek women’s business forum. Natalya Kochanova said: “Cooperation with this country is very important for us. It is one of our strategic partners. I would very much like us to show our country in all its glory. We have rather successful ties in many areas. Our higher education institutions are an example of that.”

Six panel sessions will take place on 5 September as part of the forum. They will focus on expanding Belarus-Uzbekistan cooperation in manufacturing sector, on promising avenues of cooperation in light industry, on building up the partnership of Belarusian and Uzbek agribusinesses, on healthcare and pharmaceutics as promising avenues for advancing Belarus-Uzbekistan cooperation, on realizing partnership in science and education, and on the potential of culture and tourism for mutual contacts.

The plenary session of the first Belarusian-Uzbek women’s business forum is the key event. It will take place on 6 September and will focus on the potential of businesswomen for advancing Belarus-Uzbekistan business cooperation.

“About 500 participants are expected to turn up for the plenary session. We’ve invited oblast governors among other people,” the senator said. “So far about Br50 million worth of contracts and agreements have been worked out and are supposed to be signed in addition to memorandums of cooperation between our higher education institutions.”

Natalya Kochanova added that a cultural program will be organized for participants of the forum. “I hope that over a short period of time our Uzbek friends will be able to get a feel of what truly defines traditions of our country,” she said.

The forum has been organized by the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus.
