Chinese company CMEC to build waste sorting plant near Grodno

GRODNO, 22 July (BelTA) – The Chinese company will build a waste sorting plant near Grodno, BelTA learned from chief engineer of the capital construction management at the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee Yuri Yatskevich.

The tender determined the firm which will build the waste sorting facility, purchase equipment and perform installation works. The contract was signed with the Chinese company CMEC. This enterprise has experience in the construction of facilities in Belarus and the erection of similar plants.

According to the capital construction management of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee, the contract shall be approved by the World Bank which will sponsor the construction project. The Chinese company has to finalize the project in the near future.

The waste sorting plant will be built in the vicinity of the existing waste sorting facility near the village of Rogachi, Grodno Oblast. The cost of the construction project is about $28.8 million.

The new waste processing plant will have the capacity of up to 120,000 tonnes of household wastes per year. The project will be implemented within 22 months.

Established in 1978, СМЕС is an affiliated company of the Chinese company SINOMACH (China National Machinery Industry Corporation). There are 27 affiliated companies of СМЕС in China. Apart from that, the company has a controlling interest in 13 enterprises located abroad and in Hong Kong.
