China shows interest in joint woodworking, food industry projects with Belarus

GOMEL, 20 December (BelTA) - Partners from China are interested in implementing projects with Gomel enterprises. The statement was made at the meeting with the delegation of the Sichuan Association for Belt and Road Economic and Trade Cooperation Promotion in Gomel, BelTA has learned.

The delegation is paying a two-day visit to Gomel Oblast. The meeting was held in the FEZ Gomel-Raton.

According to Dmitry Chechko, deputy head of the FEZ Gomel Raton Administration, the administration of the free economic zone signed a cooperation agreement with China at the international exhibition in Shanghai in November. “Today we are receiving a Chinese delegation with a return visit. The meeting will highlight issues related to the organization of joint production, including spare parts for scooters, motorcycles, as well as in the food industry, woodworking, wood supply, etc.,” he stressed, adding that the talks will result in specific projects.

Dmitry Chechko added that the administration of the free economic zone can offer benefits and preferences for residents, in accordance with the legislation. “The dialogue with Chinese partners is interesting because China has become one of the promising markets for Belarus. Many international agreements have been reached, including at the level of the government. The head of state sets tasks to diversify exports in this direction,” Dmitry Chechko said.

Representatives of the Chinese delegation emphasized their intention to cooperate and strengthen bilateral business ties in various areas. The Chinese delegation is set to visit Gomel meat processing plant, Gomel fat plant, Gomel distillery Radamir. On the second day of the visit the program will comprise the familiarization of the delegation with the Rassvet poultry farm of Belorusneft Osobino, Gomel experimental forestry, and Gomel chemical plant.
