Buckwheat harvesting completed in three Belarusian regions

MINSK, 28 September (BelTA) – Brest Oblast, Gomel Oblast and Minsk Oblast have completed buckwheat harvesting, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of 28 September, some 7,753,600 tonnes of grain crops and rapeseed were cropped in Belarus. This included 6,713,700 tonnes of grain and leguminous crops (including corn).

Harvesting of corn kernels is underway in all the oblasts of the country, with 42,300 hectares of land already cleared. Some 326,400 tonnes of corn kernels were threshed, with the yields averaging 77.1 centners per hectare.

Some 13,709,000 tonnes of corn for silage were cropped so far.

Brest Oblast, Gomel Oblast and Minsk Oblast have completed buckwheat harvesting: 46,700 tonnes of buckwheat were threshed with the yields at 14.6 centners per hectare.

Millet was harvested by all the regions except for Mogilev Oblast. Some 19,100 tonnes were threshed with the yields at 19.3 centners per hectare.

The flax straw harvest exceeded 116,000 tonnes.

Belarusian agricultural workers harvested some 439,300 tonnes of potatoes. The yields average 352.7 centners per hectare.

Sugar beet harvesting is underway in Belarus. Some 1,244,800 tonnes of sugar beet were removed, with the yields standing at 449.8 centners per hectare.

Winter grain crops were sown on 1,028,000 hectares of land (66.9% of the plan), more than last year.
