Bellegprom expanding into Japan, Canada

MINSK, 1 September (BelTA) – The Belarusian state light industry concern Bellegprom is making steps to expand into the markets of Japan and Canada, Bellegprom Concern Chairman Nikolai Yefimchik said during an online conference hosted by BelTA.

“As for new markets, we have been mastering them very actively. Today we are considering cooperation with Japan. The first steps have been made on Canada. Our delegation will visit the country soon. The Canadian market is showing interest in our footwear and linen products. As for Japan, we are in talks on hi-tech fabrics. The Mogotex company works in the area and is able to do what Japan needs. We can produce fire-resistant fabrics and fabrics with special effects. They are used in the production of special clothing and are interesting for high-tech countries,” Nikolai Yefimchik stressed.

The chairman of Bellegprom noted that the companies of the concern meet the export targets. “Over the past six months the export growth made up 107%. However, the dynamics is on the decline. We have a serious task of increasing the exports,” he said.

According to Nikolai Yefimchik, Russia accounts for 75% of the Bellegprom’s exports. “We have the biggest gain on this market. There are examples of companies which, after a technical upgrading, start selling more than 80% of their products abroad, including to the non-CIS countries. Among them are companies of Orsha. We hope that our Kamvol company will operate successfully as well. I believe the exports will go up,” the chairman of the concern said.
