BelGee plans to produce 35,000 cars, to enter new markets in 2020

BelGee plans to produce 35,000 cars, to enter new markets in 2020

MINSK, 25 September (BelTA) - The Belarusian passenger car manufacturer BelGee has almost reached the designed production capacity. In 2020, the company is set to produce 30,000-35,000 vehicles and to enter new markets, Belarus’ First Deputy Industry Minister Gennady Svidersky told a press conference on 25 September, BelTA has learned.

Domestic sales are projected at 10,000 cars, international sales at 20,000-25,000. This year the cars were supplied mainly to Russia. In 2020 the company also expects to branch out into the markets of Kazakhstan, Armenia, Ukraine and Lithuania. “The negotiations are underway,” Gennady Svidersky said. "I am convinced that the geography of sales will expand.”

Geely Corporation is set to approve the 2020 plan in November.

According to Gennady Svidersky, with the designed capacity reached, the company will rake in more than Br20 million in net profits in January-September of this year, and pay off all loans. The level of profitability of sales reaches 4.9-5.2% on average.

“These are good figures for the new company,” Gennady Svidersky believes. “We decided to produce more than 2,000 cars this month, working one shift to celebrate the professional day - Machine Builders Day. The factory is designed to produce 120 cars per shift. To date we have made 100-110 units per shift, which almost corresponds to the designed capacity of the company.

Since the beginning of this year, more than 12,000 cars have been made. 11,000 of them have been sold. Belarusian dealers got 40% of cars. Some 60% was exported to Russia. The most popular models include Atlas (half of sales). Emgrand X7 accounted for 30% of the total sales, Emgrand 7 for 20%. About 70% of customers are individuals, half of them have used programs of the partner banks.

More than 7,000 cars are forecast to be sold in Belarus in 2019. Car sales and maintenance are carried out through an extensive dealer network. Recently, the maintenance center was opened in Kobrin. Baranovichi and Pinsk are next in line. More than 50 dealerships have been set up in Russia.

Gennady Svidersky responded to criticism about the high price of cars in Belarus compared to Russia’s Smolensk. “I would like to say that not all websites provide reliable information. The reports that one cay buy a car in Smolensk 40% cheaper are not true. The price policy is coordinated by Geely, and the price lists of the company's official website in Russia and Belarus are practically identical,” he said.

Those who offer lower prices are not official dealers. Companies have repeatedly re-registered in order to continue to deceit customers. At the same time, the price of shipment of products is 20% cheaper to Russia thanks to zero VAT (citizens pay for it on purchase).

BelGee was officially inaugurated on 17 November 2017. The factory is located between Borisov and Zhodino, covering an area of 118 hectares, employing more than 1,300 professionals. BelGee cars have been certified in accordance with the technical regulations of the Customs Union, tested according to the Euro NCAP method (frontal tests, side impact, etc.). BelGee shareholders are BelAZ, Zhejiang Jirun Automobile Company Limited, Soyuzavtotekhnologiyi, and CITIC International Investment Limited (China).
