Belavia receives its first latest-generation Embraer E195-E2

Belavia receives its first latest-generation Embraer E195-E2

MINSK, 24 December (BelTA) – The Belarusian air carrier Belavia received an E195-E2 jet of the new generation of Embraer on 23 December, BelTA learned from Belavia’s press service.

The lease agreement to supply three E195-E2 jets between Belavia and AerCap Holdings N.V. was signed in February 2020. Two more aircraft will be delivered in early 2021.

“Compared to the current generation of jets, Embraer E195-E2 offers lower operating costs. Larger wings and new engines enable to reduce fuel burn by 25.4% per seat. This jet is also the quietest and the most eco-friendly in its class: according to the CAEP/8 standard, nitrous oxide emissions are reduced by 35%, and carbon dioxide emissions by 50%. The new fully enclosed design of landing gear ensure better aerodynamics, reduces peak load during landing, and improves aircraft alignment and ground handling, which results in lower fuel consumption,” the press service noted.

Belavia became the eighth airline to fly Embraer's second-generation aircraft, the press service noted. The jet can seat 125 passengers: 9 in Business Class and 116 in Economy Class, 18 more seats than the first-generation aircraft.

According to Belavia’s Director General Anatoly Gusarov, the company is focused on upgrading its fleet. “The delivery of Embraer E195-E2 is an important step in upgrading Belavia’s fleet, which will help improve the quality of service and cut ticket prices thanks to the cost-effectiveness of the jest. Over eight years of our cooperation with Embraer, we have received and successfully operate twelve aircraft of the Brazilian company. Our passengers like these jets for their comfort and safety. We hope that the new jet will also win their approval,” he noted.

“We are happy that Belavia will get an new-generation aircraft with the GTF engine, which will help reduce operation costs and improve customer services,” chief customer support specialist and Senior Vice President of Pratt & Whitney Rick Deurloo said.

We are happy to welcome Belavia to the ranks of airlines flying E2 jets, Vice President of Embraer Commercial Aviation for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa Cesar Pereira stressed. “E195-E2 is perfect for airlines that intend to increase air traffic. This type of aircraft is the most cost effective among narrow-body aircraft for operation on the same routes. We will be happy to continue cooperating with Belavia in upgrading its fleet,” he noted.

Belavia plans to deploy the new aircraft on such routes as London, Barcelona, Nur-Sultan, Munich, Paris, Sochi, and Amsterdam.

Belavia is the largest air carrier in Belarus. It was established on 5 March 1996. Belavia joined the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in 1997 and the European Regions Airline Association (ERAA) in 2010. At present, its fleet includes 26 aircraft (nine Boeing 737-800, two Boeing 737-500, three Boeing 737-300, five Embraer-175, and seven Embraer-195).
