A Belarusian Railways delegation led by First Deputy Head of Belarusian Railways Piotr Dulub took part in a number of events held in the People’s Republic of China last week within the framework of the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road initiative. The initiative was declared by China President Xi Jinping in 2013.

The key purpose of the trip was to further develop container shipping between China and Europe via Belarusian Railways, promote logistics projects for the delivery of freight between Belarus and China, and help Belarusian cargo owners establish new logistic chains for shipping exports between Belarus and China.

The Belarusian Railways delegation took part in a high-level forum on establishing trans-Eurasian cooperation, delivery chains, inland inner sea lanes and freight forwarding organized with assistance of the Chongqing government, in a meeting with top officials of the port industry city of Jiangjin Luohuan and the logistic hub Xiaonanya, which are located outside Chongqing, in the international expo Chengdu Logistics Expo 2023 in Chengdu, and in the 8th Asia-Europe International Transport and Logistics Forum (AETLF) in Chengdu.

Apart from that, a meeting with representatives of the logistics office of the Chongqing government took place. Belarus’ Consul General in Chongqing Dmitry Yemelyanov took part in it. In addition, negotiations were held with the largest transportation and logistics platforms Yu Xin Ou (Chongqing) and CDIRS (Chengdu), which consolidate container shipments between Belarus and Europe, and with the transportation and logistics company Baisheng (Chengdu).

Agreements were reached on cooperation in promoting container shipping between Belarus and Chongqing and between Belarus and Chengdu. Efforts will be exercised to consolidate container flows and offer regular container services. Further steps and measures to establish interaction between the companies have been determined, including the signing of the corresponding agreements later on.
