Belarusian MAZ, Gazprom Gas Engine Fuel sign cooperation agreement

MINSK, 2 November (BelTA) – The Belarusian automobile company OAO MAZ and OOO Gazprom Gas Engine Fuel signed an agreement on cooperation during the 12th St. Petersburg International Gas Forum. The two companies will work together to promote automobiles powered by natural gas, which is environmentally friendlier and cheaper, OAO Gazprom Transgaz Belarus representatives told BelTA.
MAZ and Gazprom Gas Engine Fuel will work out proposals for regional and federal bodies of legislative and executive power to enable favorable legislative, regulatory, organizational, programmatic, technological, scientific methodical and other conditions for the adoption of automobiles and other vehicles powered by natural gas on a massive scale.
The two companies intend to realize a number of regional and industry-specific programs to introduce gas engine vehicles, adapt and assimilate the world’s best technologies and approaches to switching transport to natural gas fuel.
Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ) is one of Belarus' largest mechanical engineering companies. It specializes in making heavy-duty trucks, special-purpose vehicles, buses, trolleybuses, and trailing units. MAZ vehicles are compliant with the environmental standards Euro-3, 4, 5, and 6. The company makes a total of over 500 models and 3,000 modifications of tractor units, dropside trucks, and chassis for mounting various kinds of equipment.
