MINSK, 7 June (BelTA) - The Belarusian public transport manufacturer BKM Holding and Russia’s Rosatom plan to implement new joint projects in electric transport, BelTA learned from the Rosatom State Corporation.

At the international exhibition "Eurasia is Our Home", Renera, Rosatom's integrator  in the field of energy storage systems, BKM Holding, a leading Belarusian manufacturer of ground urban electric transport, and Rusatom Bel, the country office of Rosatom State Corporation in Belarus, signed an agreement on strategic cooperation to implement joint projects in electric transport development. The document is aimed at developing joint competencies and coordinating the work in implementing projects in the countries of the Union State and abroad.

The signing ceremony was attended by Alexander Kamashev, Director General of Renera, Taras Murog, General Director of BKM Holding, and Stanislav Levitsky, Director of Rusatom Bel, the Country Office of Rosatom State Corporation in Belarus.

Renera and BKM Holding already have experience in implementing successful joint projects. In 2022, a contract was signed to supply lithium-ion batteries for 97 trolleybuses with increased autonomous travel. Phased shipment of kits began last year and now 81 trolleybuses with Renera’s lithium-ion batteries run on the routes of St. Petersburg.

"We are ready to continue joint projects with BKM Holding, Belaurs’ major manufacturer of electric vehicles. Russian lithium-ion batteries are reliable and safe. Due to their high energy intensity, the power reserve is up to 70km, which allows organizing new transport routes and making passengers travel comfortable and safe. The synergy of cooperation between manufacturers of Russia and Belarus will give an additional impetus to the development of technological potential and industrial cooperation in the field of electric transport," Alexander Kamashev said.

For his part, Taras Murog expressed confidence in long-term cooperation. "The market of electric buses and trolleybuses with increased autonomous travel in Russia is currently actively developing, and thanks to this, we see a large number of opportunities for further development of our cooperation with Renera, which shows significant potential and advantages of industrial cooperation within the framework of the Union State," he said.

Stanislav Levitsky drew attention to the advanced solutions to reduce the environmental impact and ensure sustainable development. "Combination of experience and competencies of both parties will enable us to develop innovative projects with a view of improving the electric vehicle system and increasing the comfort of citizens," he said.
