MINSK, 9 June (BelTA) – There will be more than 700 charging stations in Belarus by the end of 2023, and another 105 will be installed in 2024, Belorusneft Deputy Director General for Construction and General Affairs Andrei Kotik said at the event to mark Electric Transport Day in Minsk on 9 June, BelTA has learned.

“Today we see a boom in the global automotive industry market; the sales of electric vehicles are growing. It’s nice to know that Belarus is up to speed with global trends. We have electric transport of all classes and in all market segments. It is noteworthy that electric cars are now more cost-effective than traditional vehicles in the taxi and carsharing segments. The sales of electric vehicles are poised for a serious uptick worldwide. The state production association Belorusneft that was tasked to create the charging network in Belarus, contributes to this in every possible way. This year the number of charging stations will exceed 700. Next year we will install 105 more. Meanwhile, 15 state-of-the-art super-fast charging complexes will be built in addition to that,” Andrei Kotik said.

The event to mark Electric Transport Day is taking place near the National Library. Taking part in the event are industrial enterprises, scientific organizations and importers of electric vehicles. All types of electric transport are presented at the exhibition, including popular models of passenger vehicles and new launches, as well as new models of Belarusian electric buses and electric trucks. The exhibition also displays electric motorcycles and electric bicycles made in Belarus. Visitors can test drive electric vehicles, see performances of monowheelers, visit interactive platforms, and take part in contests and quizzes.

The event is organized by the Energy Ministry in collaboration with Belorusneft with the support of the Minsk City Council.
